For example, let's say a factory produces widgets and has a production line with multiple stages, including raw material inspection, assembly, testing, and packing. By using process mining technology, the factory can gather data on the production process and identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies. For instance, the analysis may reveal that the raw material inspection stage is taking much longer than expected, causing delays in the rest of the production line. With this information, the factory can take steps to improve the inspection process, such as increasing the number of inspectors or implementing new technology.
